Yesterday’s Sunrise

Open Edition

Pulling into Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge well before dawn, I had my pick of the place. So I drove around the loops until something caught my eye for a foreground. The clouds were just beginning to light up as I chose my foreground: a remnant of a tree. I got out of the car, braving the hordes of mosquitoes and biting flies and sat down in front of the tree. I broke out my wide angle lens and the bug spray. It was June and the gulls were laughing at me from various corners of the refuge. I waited until the sun was just breaking the horizon and snapped my image. At that point the clouds were still pink and very pretty. I loved being able to pick up the reflection of the clouds in the salt marsh of the Delaware Bay.
