Tree In The Desert
Open Edition
Driving through Canyonlands National Park I made numerous stops to get out and photograph intimate landscapes. I spotted this tree and the clouds behind it and immediately fell in love with it. I knew right away that this image screamed to be a black and white monotone. I must have danced around this tree for an hour trying to get the shadows and highlights where I wanted them. Finally I found this angle that made the tree just pop and I knew I had hit the right spot. Despite all the epic locations I shot in the American Southwest, I find that this simple tree remains one of my favorite images. Funny, I did not note the exact location so all I know is that the tree is in Canyonlands National Park. In this world of GPS coordinates this one is going to be a mystery! Luckily I took my time and got it right the first time...
