Rocks At Dawn On The Chesapeake

Open Edition

It was late winter, what better time to be on the beach? I arrived at Sandy Point State Park long before sunrise, arriving with the fishermen. As I pulled onto the drive the eyes of the resident deer lit up a spooky yellow / green. I arrived at the beach parking and went out into the cold morning. As I walked towards the Chesapeake Bay, sand and pebbles got into my shoe. There were no clouds in the sky so I knew I had to work quickly to capture the pre-dawn colors of which blue is primary. A long five second exposure blurred out the waves from the bay as they broke around the rocks. The beautiful pink and blue of the sky fit in perfectly with the quiet of the park. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge behind me was just beginning to light up. I wiped the sand off my tripod legs as I headed back to the car with the sun now rising in the eastern skies.
