In Wonderland

Open Edition

Yellowstone National Park truly is wonderland for a photographer or nature lover. I was at the Midway Geyser Basin photographing the Grand Prismatic Spring when I noticed the overflow from the spring was not limited to the orange bacterial mats. Right while I was there the entire area around the spring was under a very thin layer of water. I realized that from the right angle the entire area acted like a giant mirror reflecting the puffy clouds above. The steam from the spring kept blowing by fogging up my lens and my glasses. I had to time the photographs between the gusts of wind that blew the steam my direction. I feel that the Grand Prismatic Spring is the real jewel of Yellowstone with its multi-colored zones of colorful bacteria.
