Great American Eclipse
Open Edition
Talk about an adventure of a lifetime, I had waited for this solar eclipse since I was a little kid. I remember looking at my science books and thinking 2017 was so impossibly far away. But 2017 finally came around and so did the eclipse. I traveled with my two boys down to the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee the day before the event. I picked some random out of the way park near our hotel to view the eclipse. I figured we would be alone. But come time for the eclipse the park filled up with eager viewers who had come from far and wide. I will always remember the solar eclipse, it was totally epic. We were in the path of totality so we got a 100% showing. The moment of full eclipse was phenomenal with the whole area going black as twilight. We managed to view it through holes in the clouds, with a perfect cloud window allowing us to see the totality. We paid a heavy toll going home as the traffic was terrible, we were averaging about 25 miles per hour over much of our 700 mile trip home. But it was so worth it!
